A Green Classroom

Learning and practicing how to be green is not only important for the environment, but helps our classroom run in an efficient way. Students learn how to reuse and repurpose everyday items so they avoid the trash, and serve a purpose in our classroom. Here you will find some of the ways we practice a green lifestyle in the classroom, and what you can do from home to help.

In Class Green  Practices

  • Keep used paper with a blank side in a "reuse bin" to be used again.

  • Recognize items that can be repurposed and add them to a "repurpose bin" to be used again.

  • Recycle plastics and paper when possible.

  • Reduce the amount of materials we need by not wasting.

  • Turn off lights and faucets when not in use.

  • Treat materials with respect so they are not wasted.

  • Hold class recycle book swaps throughout the year.

  • Engage in paperless activities whenever possible.

  • Use reusable plates and cups when necessary. (paper free!)

  • Learn about ways we can help the Earth in our everyday habits.

How to Help from Home

  • Send in a reusable water bottle with your child each day.

  • Contribute to class recycle book swaps.

  • Ask your child what they have learned about helping the Earth.

  • Donate used books, board games, art supplies, and puzzles to the classroom. (even if they are missing pieces!)

  • Help us reuse and repurpose by sending in any of these items, already cleaned if necessary, to school:

Or anything else you think would be useful, or encourage creativity!
